The structure of cork resembles a beehive

but its real uniqueness lies in its density (mass per unit volume), which is about a quarter of that of water. These properties make it an excellent insulating material, both in terms of temperature and acoustics.

The modern cork got its name after its microscopic structure was discovered in the 17th century by Robert Hawke. Cork can be reused and recycled. For example, used bottle stoppers are used for the production of shoe soles or fishing floats.

However, currently, in addition to heat and sound insulation, the most popular cork product is a 3 mm wall plug for decoration. The richness of textures and patterns makes the cork an ideal solution even for the most demanding customers. Cork is obtained from cork oak, or rather from its dead cells, which are concentrated on the outer shell.

Most of the trees suitable for cork production are found in Portugal. The cork production process does not harm the tree and in fact the tree produces cork for many decades, up to 150 years!

Cork production process is ecological

Thanks to this, the cork production process is ecological and is considered "green" and environmentally friendly. Moreover, peeling off the outer layer prevents parasites from settling between the dead layer and the living layer beneath it. Installing the stopper is very simple. Patterns can be combined or mixed with other decoration techniques, e.g. green wall.

The wall cork can be glued to the wall with ordinary contact or water glue. The wall should be cleaned of dust and dirt so that the adhesive sticks optimally. The wall must be completely dry. Use a spirit level to check that the wall is even.

Cork Installation

When using standard contact adhesive, the required amount is approximately 500 ml of contact adhesive per 4 m2 of cork. If you still prefer to avoid sticking a board or roller directly to the wall, you can stick the cork on another hard surface - such as plywood - and then hang it on the wall with screws or nails. The purpose of sticking the cork (to the wall or other surface) is to avoid the so-called "Waves". These waves or bumps deteriorate the appearance of the cladding, and may also harm the possibility of pins being driven into the cork, if that is the purpose of the cladding. Therefore, regardless of whether you are gluing the cork directly to the wall or prefer to stick it to another surface, it should be covered with glue as much as possible (and not just spread over the edges). After sticking, it is recommended to run your hand through the cork and make sure that it is actually attached to the wall over its entire surface.

Make sure cork tiles have no bulging

This can also be done with a standard rolling pin or any similar object. If you want to create a larger cork board with decorative cork cladding, the cork should be "thicker".
Our decorative tiles are 3mm thick, while a pin board or cork wall requires at least 8mm to keep the pins from falling out. To do this, you can buy a regular cork roll and paste it on the back to get a specially designed decorative board or cork wall.

Cork is used not only as a decoration for an apartment, house or office. In this case, consumers have a very wide choice of the type, shape and color of tiles and wall panels. In our store you will find a wall plug that everyone will like. In addition to 3D wall panels, our assortment also includes nearly 40 types of wall cork tiles and a wide selection of self-adhesive tiles. In addition to its decorative function, a cork wall has many advantages that cannot be found in other synthetic decorations. Decorative cork used together with technical cork not only looks good, but will also soundproof the room and improve the microclimate in the house.

When using a cork, we do not have to worry about mold or fungi, and by the way, we will use it as a useful cork board. All you need is a pin and we will always have information on the wall next to it that we cannot forget. Each of our wall plugs can be arranged in any pattern cut or combined with other decorations, thanks to which everyone will create a unique atmosphere in their home or workplace.

Most importantly, however, cork is a very durable material that can withstand even several dozen years, is easy to care for and does not deteriorate. Installation is very simple and requires no professional assistance. The wall plug is manufactured with low energy consumption, virtually zero emissions and minimal environmental impact.

By choosing 100% natural cork products, you contribute to the development of responsible, innovative and sustainable solutions, helping to protect our environment and future generations. Below you can see how great our products can look in various arrangements.
